Whenever interviewed, I am often asked what influenced me to start Cheryl Pullins International and what lead me to work with multi-passionate women who desire to play a bigger game in business and life?
To answer this question, it’s best that I start from the beginning and then share with you a couple defining moment stories that were instrumental in leading me to where I am today, co-creating with amazing women like you who want to live a fulfilled life.
Taking it all the way back, my life hasn’t always been one of success, personal accomplishment, and freedom. To be honest, it has been a rough road.
Fast forward, my 14-year marriage to a pastor ended in divorce, I wound up in a one year battle for my daughters. I lost my home, my car and was under a 3-day suicide watch.
One Sunday morning while sitting at the foot of my bed getting dressed for church, I was watching a preacher on television. He was teaching about love, forgiveness and how unforgiveness was a poison. Sure enough in that moment, I knew what I had to do.
I was presented with a choice.
It was in that moment when I realized that I was consumed with a poison that only harboring unforgiveness could bring and that if I was going to live a fulfilled life, there was no getting around it, I had to forgive. Really forgive.
It took work. Forgiveness is more than a word, it's an intentional act of freedom.
It was that act of freedom that opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. My life started to transform in ways that those who knew me no longer, “knew me.” Over time I talked differently. Thought differently. Heck, I even walked differently. I was no longer bound by the heavy chains of bitterness, anger, and unforgiveness. The freedom of forgiveness allowed me to see endless possibilities for myself.
This is when I took my first plunge into entrepreneurship and launched a digital magazine for women. I wanted every woman to know that they have the power to transform their lives. The magazine became quite successful. LIVE Magazine was published for four years.
After 10 years of rolling single, I married a pretty dang handsome 20-year military veteran. His career took us to Florida. It was there that after a twenty-two-year career as a Human Resources professional, I turned in the keys to my corporate gig.
Moving to Florida changed my life.
I became a Certified Professional Coach and spent an entire year expecting people to just show up to get coached. You know...if you built it, they will come. Um, not if you don't tell them!
Twelve months later a dear friend invited me to a business boot camp. After feeling like I had been doused with water from a fire hydrant for three days, I got my booty in gear.
From there I went from zero clients to 14 private clients. Caution...don't do that! I then started speaking. I went from local events to professional organizations to national stages to doing a talk at a historic TEDx event.
That was only the beginning. Here are a few of the amazing opportunities and honors I have experienced which have contributed to me building my personal brand.
